Exciting Matchup: Lady Bears Set to Take on George Washington This Wednesday – Don’t Miss the Action at Morgan State University!

Morgan State University is gearing up to face George Washington on Wednesday at Lois T. Murray Field. The game kicks off at 2 p.m., and it’s set to be an exciting matchup as the Revolutionaries lead the series 6-1. This will be George Washington’s second visit to Baltimore, having previously defeated the Lady Bears 2-1 in April 2023.

Morgan State (3-14) recently broke a six-game losing streak with a close 4-3 win against Mount St. Mary’s. Rylee Hyde shined in that game, going 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Victoria Fletcher contributed with two RBIs. Fletcher, who is now 2-6 this season, pitched the entire game, allowing three runs on nine hits.

On the other side, George Washington (12-8) is riding high with a three-game winning streak after a solid performance in their recent GW Invitational. They lost their opening game against Manhattan but bounced back with impressive wins against both Manhattan and UAlbany. Ashley Corpuz stood out, going 2-for-3 against UAlbany, scoring two runs, and batting in four RBIs.

Looking ahead, Morgan State will kick off its Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play this weekend, hosting Delaware State for a three-game series. The teams will meet for a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m., followed by a single game on Sunday at noon.

In individual highlights, Morgan State’s Serena Rodriguez was recently named MEAC Pitcher of the Week after showcasing her skills with a 0.64 ERA over 11 innings. Another standout, Amber Rivas, made waves by being named to the NFCA All-Tournament Team, recording a .385 batting average and key contributions in the season opener against Notre Dame, where Morgan State achieved its first win over an Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) team.

This season, the Lady Bears aim to build momentum as they enter MEAC play and improve their standings. According to recent statistics from the NCAA, the team is working hard to make strides in both pitching and batting as they develop their skills for future competitions.
