Borderlands 4 has just rolled out a big update for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. This update aims to enhance the four Vault Hunters, making their different builds more competitive.
On October 2, Gearbox Software shared that this update focuses on improving “build diversity by adjusting underperforming skills.” For instance, Amon, the Forgeknight, has been buffed to match the other Vault Hunters in power. Rafa, the Exo-Soldier, now has stronger summons, while Vex, the Siren, sees boosts to her melee abilities, making their builds much more effective for endgame content. Changes to Gravitar Harlowe’s Stasis ability also ensure it delivers more value in gameplay.
But it’s not just about the Vault Hunters. Gearbox has made additional tweaks, like enhancing the weekly Big Encore boss and relocating Maurice’s Black Market Vending Machine, which now offers new items. An auto-clear function for stale shaders has also been added, improving performance on some PCs.
Borderlands 4 launched on September 12 and received positive reviews, with many players appreciating its loot system and chaotic gameplay. A notable 2023 survey showed that 72% of players found enhanced character builds to be the most exciting aspect of updates. While currently available on major platforms, a Nintendo Switch 2 version is planned, albeit delayed.
Key Changes in the Update:
- Character Buffs: Expect notable increases in damage for various skills, making characters like Harlowe and Rafa more formidable.
- Weekly Activities: This includes a tough new Big Encore boss with better loot, a Wildcard Mission with guaranteed legendary drops, and a repositioned Maurice’s Vending Machine.
- Performance Improvements: The introduction of an auto-clearing feature for stale shaders is set to boost game performance.
Historically, game updates like this have often sparked discussions online. Players frequently share their reactions on social media, often highlighting how they feel about the balancing adjustments. This update has seen a mix of excitement and skepticism from the community, with some players eager to dive into the revamped builds while others are less enthusiastic about the frequency of game changes.
