Exciting New Details Uncovered in Marathon NDA Playtest 3 Leak: Discover New Runner, Unique Abilities, Multiple Ship Maps, UI Enhancements, and More!

Bungie’s latest closed playtest for *Marathon* has stirred excitement as new details emerged online. Recently, players discovered insights about a fresh Runner, unique abilities, and several ship maps. However, it’s important to note that much of this information was leaked from a private session under strict non-disclosure agreements (NDA).

*Marathon*, Bungie’s upcoming extraction shooter, is still in development, with a new release date pending after they delayed the previously announced September 23, 2025, launch. In their latest update, the team indicated they needed more time to refine the game after initial alpha feedback. Another update is expected this fall, promising more clarity on the release timeline.

This latest playtest, named *Closed Playtest 3*, took place from September 5 to 7. Like previous tests, the session was invite-only and followed by strict rules to keep things under wraps.

Despite the NDAs, a Twitter user known as Deakstiny managed to share insights about the playtest. Although their posts have since been taken down, they provided details on new characters and gameplay elements that have caught the community’s attention.

For example, players discovered that Bungie revamped the user interface for faction interactions. Six factions were featured—Cyberacme, Nucaloric, Traxus, MIDA, Arachne, and Sekiguchi—and now each one includes a stylish new intro cinematic over 30 seconds long. This change suggests a deeper narrative connection within the game.

Interestingly, all cosmetics from previous playtests were removed, leaving testers with default skins. The new Runner, called “Icon,” was introduced, bringing exciting abilities. According to the leaks, “Icon” comes with three skills: a grapple feature akin to Apex Legends’ Pathfinder, X-Ray vision that lets players see loot through walls, and a unique drone that can steal valuable items from opponents.

The game also revealed two new maps. The *Outpost* map now includes environmental hazards that deal damage over time, adding an extra layer of challenge. Another map, *Cryo Archive*, set within the UESC Marathon ship, offers puzzle-like elements that hint at complex gameplay mechanics still being developed.

As more fans learn about *Marathon*, discussions have emerged on social media, reflecting both excitement and skepticism. Many are curious about how these changes will impact the overall gameplay experience. In the past, Bungie has faced criticism over leadership and workplace culture, which may influence how community feedback is integrated moving forward. A former Bungie developer previously described the environment as “extremely toxic,” sparking debates among fans about the company’s direction and employee treatment.

Ultimately, while the new features hint at an innovative gaming experience, officially confirming these details remains crucial as the team pushes toward launch. Such updates encourage a dedicated player base eager to see how *Marathon* evolves.
