Exciting New Dining Options Coming to Gardnerville: Discover Your Next Favorite Spot!

This week, the big buzz in Gardnerville is the soft opening of Flame of India, an exciting new Indian restaurant. It held a free buffet night that drew in a crowd, thanks to word-of-mouth excitement.

Located at 1488 Main St., where Sonney’s BBQ used to be, Flame of India officially opens its doors on Friday. The restaurant welcomes guests from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and again from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a buffet available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This spot has seen several restaurants over the past 34 years, including the popular Two Guys From Italy, which operated there for two decades.

Also in Gardnerville’s Waterloo Center, Tom and Lenee Hunter, who own Nevada Ugly, are about to open a TOGO’s. Lenee, who grew up in the Bay Area, is thrilled to bring the “True to the Sandwich” concept to her community. Her husband, a native Nevadan and pharmacist, discovered TOGO’s expansion plans via LinkedIn, sparking their excitement to get involved.

Another new addition to the area is the franchise Juice It Up!. Sukhbir Toor, a Marine Corps officer and Topaz resident, plans to launch Nevada’s first Juice It Up! in Gardnerville by late summer. He aims to expand the brand throughout Douglas County and beyond. Toor made headlines as the first Marine allowed to wear a beard and turban, marking a significant change in military policy.

The Waterloo Center, where these new ventures are taking place, opened in 2008. It was once the last home for the Carson Valley Department of Motor Vehicles before it moved the following year. As new restaurants pop up, the center continues to shape the dining landscape in the area.

With new places to eat and community-focused entrepreneurs, Gardnerville is exciting. These changes reflect the growing diversity and vibrability of the town, making it a fresh spot for both locals and visitors. Keep an eye out for these openings as they continue to bring flavor and new concepts to the area.
