JONESBORO, Ark. – The Yard, a new dining spot in Jonesboro, is quickly becoming a favorite among students at Arkansas State University. Recently, they celebrated their full opening by hosting a food drive to support the Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas.
Owners Casey and Dan Johnson wanted to give back to the community that has embraced their restaurant. “Customers came out to eat and enjoy live music, and we donated 10 percent of our sales back to the food bank,” Casey shared.
The event was not only fun but also made a real difference. The team managed to donate 280 pounds of canned food and provide 350 meals to those in need. “It was a great collaborative effort,” Casey noted, highlighting the contributions from local sororities and fraternities who jumped in to help.
Though organized on short notice, the food drive was a success, and Johnson hopes to make it an annual occasion. This initiative by The Yard strengthens food security efforts and builds a stronger community bond among students and local residents.
