Bucknell Welcomes New Football Coach Jeff Behrman
Jeff Behrman, a seasoned college football coach with 30 years of experience, has been named the 28th head football coach at Bucknell University. With a winning percentage of over 72%, Behrman is transferring to Bucknell after a successful tenure at John Carroll University, where he led the Blue Streaks to a remarkable 29-7 record over three seasons.
Last fall, he guided John Carroll to a 12-2 finish, clinching the North Coast Athletic Conference title and making it to the NCAA semifinals, defeating three ranked teams along the way. Behrman’s coaching excellence earned him the title of Division III Region 4 Coach of the Year.
Previously, at Union College, Behrman transformed a previously winless team into a conference champion within four seasons. His team had a record of 10-0, won the Liberty League title, and advanced in the NCAA Division III playoffs.
Behrman’s 71-27 coaching record includes a playoff history of 5-3. He also spent a decade at Stony Brook University as their offensive coordinator, contributing to four Big South titles and playoff appearances. His teams have consistently ranked highly in various offensive categories.
As he takes on this new role, Behrman emphasized the importance of building a disciplined and competitive program that values integrity and character. He recognizes Bucknell’s reputation for excellence and is eager to contribute to its legacy.
Behrman’s recruiting abilities have garnered him several prestigious awards, including the AFCA Region 1 Coach of the Year and the Liberty League Coach of the Year. He has coached numerous players who went on to achieve success in both academics and athletics, including players who became NFL and CFL professionals.
Making a return to his home state, Behrman played quarterback at John Carroll University and received various accolades for his leadership and dedication during his college career.
Joining him in Lewisburg are his wife, Karen, and their son, Brock, a junior lacrosse player at Notre Dame and a member of the 2024 national championship team.
Behrman’s extensive coaching background, commitment to student-athlete development, and success on the field signal an exciting new chapter for Bucknell football.
