A new gated village for people over 50 is coming to the outer northern beaches of Perth. The $300-million Oceanside Lifestyle Resort got the green light from a state panel. It will be built on a 150,000 square meter site at Damepattie Drive in Two Rocks, which is about 62 kilometers north of Perth’s city center.
John Wood, the managing director of Providence Lifestyle Group, believes this project will breathe new life into Two Rocks. He says the area is growing rapidly, with property prices rising and a new shopping and dining hub on the horizon. Despite this growth, Two Rocks still offers a relaxed, holiday-like atmosphere, making it a great place for those looking to downsize.
This will be Providence’s sixth lifestyle resort in Western Australia and their biggest one yet. Along with one, two, and three-bedroom homes featuring solar panels and battery storage, the resort will also have a two-level lodge designed in a Hamptons style.
The amenities are impressive: a country club, indoor and outdoor pools, an indoor bowling alley, four pickleball courts, a gym, a cinema, bars, a hobby shed, and parking for caravans and boats. Residents will even have access to a bowling green.
Civil works are slated to begin soon, likely in the middle of this year. The project received unanimous approval from the Metro Outer Development Assessment Panel this month. Panel member Dale Page noted that the site was previously cleared, so environmental concerns are minimal.
Page also shared insights on community support. She mentioned that during the consultation process, they received 96 submissions, with only six objections. This strong interest shows that many people are excited about the resort.
Experts suggest that such developments are increasingly popular among the aging population. According to a recent report by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the number of people aged over 65 is expected to rise significantly in the coming years. This makes projects like Oceanside not just timely but essential for providing suitable housing options.
