Exciting New Insights Unveiled: Halo Combat Evolved Remake Set to Feature Hybrid Unreal Engine 5, Enhanced Sprint Mechanic, Co-Development Studio, and Other Surprises!

A recent leak has stirred excitement around a potential remake of Halo: Combat Evolved. This new version might use a blend of Unreal Engine 5 and Blam technology. It’s also rumored to introduce new gameplay features like sprinting and revamped mission designs.

After some ups and downs with Halo Infinite, Microsoft reorganized 343 Industries into “Halo Studios” in late 2024. This shift includes moving the franchise to Unreal Engine 5 and developing several new projects.

Although official details are yet to emerge, well-known Halo leaker RebsGaming shared insights from a source who attended a private event. The source spoke with a developer involved in the Halo CE remake. This developer comes from a co-development studio, different from Certain Affinity, and is reportedly working on key aspects like programming and design.

One notable change in the remake is the addition of a sprint mechanic—something that was absent in the original game. RebsGaming noted that level designs will see improvements too, particularly in the much-discussed “Library” mission, which players often criticized for its repetitive layout.

Visually, the remake is expected to be stunning, resembling the graphics seen in previous projects like Project Foundry. The hybrid engine setup combines a modified version of the Halo: Reach Blam engine with Unreal Engine 5, aiming to enhance the visual experience without losing the essence of the original game.

Interestingly, there’s also a potential separate project focused on multiplayer, possibly as a long-term live service. However, those details remain speculative.

Despite the buzz, remember that these details haven’t been officially confirmed, so it’s best to stay tuned for announcements from Xbox.
