Jodhpur, May 3, 2025 – Today marks a big step for train travel in Western India. Two new long-distance train services have launched, connecting Jodhpur to Pune’s Hadapsar and Chennai Central. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat celebrated the occasion through video conferencing and at the Jodhpur Station.

Shashi Kiran, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Western Railway, noted that this launch would significantly enhance travel options. Both routes aim to bridge Rajasthan with Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, making it easier for people to travel and boosting cultural and economic links between these regions.

Vaishnaw expressed appreciation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India). He shared that under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, Indian Railways is undergoing major changes. These include station upgrades, track doubling, electrification, and the introduction of new train services.

Shekhawat highlighted the historic value of these new connections, referencing the legacy of Veer Durgadas Ji and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He emphasized that these routes not only strengthen regional ties but also promote tourism and trade.

The flag-off event included many dignitaries like Rajya Sabha MP Rajendra Gehlot and Jodhpur Divisional Railway Manager Anurag Tripathi. Guests were welcomed in traditional Rajasthani style.
