Round-based Zombies is back in Black Ops 7, featuring the new Ashes of the Damned map right at launch. Excitingly, the developers have also promised a new map each season, though they might not all be round-based.
Alongside the launch map, players can expect the original crew and the introduction of the first Wonder Vehicle. The Survival mode is also making a return. This mode debuted in Black Ops 2, offering a compact area of a broader map where players simply aim to survive without any hidden quests.
The first Survival map is the Farm, with more sections of Ashes of the Damned set to follow. However, it’s important to note that not every new seasonal map will be a Survival map. Activision stated, “Every season will have a new playable map,” indicating their ambitious roadmap, which promises at least one fresh experience each season, including numerous round-based maps after launch.
While the Survival maps may not be groundbreaking in themselves, they represent a step up from Black Ops 6, which only released four post-launch maps across six seasons. For context, the final map for Season 5, called Reckoning, was the last to be introduced before the sixth season.
Furthermore, Easter eggs will return, and a Directed Mode is on the horizon. This feature allows players to tackle challenges at their own pace. In addition to maps, expect new modes and events each season, enhancing the gameplay variety.
In a recent interview, Treyarch’s Associate Director of Design, Kevin Drew, shared his optimism, stating, “I’m confident Zombies fans will be happy this year, with what we’ve got.” This enthusiasm is echoed by fans online, with social media buzzing about the potential for new content and enhanced gameplay.
In summary, Black Ops 7 seems poised to deliver a treasure trove of content for Zombies enthusiasts. It has the promise of engaging maps, new gameplay modes, and a focus on player satisfaction, all contributing to a lively and dynamic gaming experience.
