Exciting News: Alex Golesh Takes the Helm as Auburn Football Head Coach!

AUBURN, Ala. — Alex Golesh is the new head coach for Auburn Football, as announced by Athletics Director John Cohen. At just 33, he steps into this pivotal role after a successful stint at South Florida.

Under Golesh, the South Florida Bulls enjoyed a remarkable turnaround. From 2023 to 2025, the team recorded 23 wins, including an impressive 9-3 record during the 2025 season. Before his arrival, the Bulls had only won four games in the previous three seasons.

Cohen expressed excitement about Golesh’s hiring, praising his ability to develop players and create dynamic offenses. “He showed the determination and edge that this program needs,” Cohen said. Golesh is known for producing high-scoring offenses, averaging over 35 points per game at USF.

This season, South Florida’s offense ranked second nationally in total offense and fifth in scoring. Quarterback Byrum Brown achieved a rare milestone, becoming one of only twelve FBS players to pass for more than 3,000 yards and rush for over 1,000 in the same season. Under Golesh’s leadership, the Bulls also boasted two record-breaking passing seasons.

Golesh thanked Auburn’s leadership for the opportunity, emphasizing a player-driven approach. He is committed to hard work and high standards, raising expectations for the program. “Auburn has won, can win, and will win championships. Let’s get to work,” he stated.

Recruiting has also been a strong suit for Golesh. During his tenure at USF, he secured the best signing classes in the American Athletic Conference. In 2025, USF re-entered the AP Top 25 for the first time in years, showcasing a bright future.

Historically, Auburn Football has been a powerhouse in college football, producing numerous NFL players and winning multiple championships. The hiring of Golesh signals a desire to rekindle that glory.

Before leading USF, Golesh climbed the coaching ladder, serving as offensive coordinator at Tennessee, where he turned the team’s offense around, propelling them from 108th to 1st in national rankings. He has also coached at various schools, consistently making significant impacts on their performances.

Golesh’s journey began at Ohio State, where he earned his degree in education. His diverse experiences and success at different levels make him a noteworthy addition to Auburn.

As Golesh embarks on this new chapter, fans and analysts are eager to see how he will shape the Auburn Football landscape, leveraging lessons from his past successes and setting the stage for a competitive future.
