Exciting News: Apple’s First Foldable iPhone Could Launch by 2026 – Uncover the Latest Rumors!

There’s growing buzz about Apple possibly launching a foldable iPhone soon. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shared that the release might happen around late 2026 or early 2027.

Kuo estimates this innovative gadget could cost between $2,000 and $2,500. It’s rumored to have a 7.8-inch inner display without a crease and a 5.5-inch outer screen.

Even with the high price, Kuo thinks Apple’s loyal customers will drive strong demand, potentially leading to 3 million to 5 million sales initially and up to 20 million by the second generation.

This report comes as Apple stands out for not having a foldable phone yet. The company has been researching this for years but has struggled with the hinge design and screen durability.

Are foldables ready to shine?

Currently, foldable phones represent a small part of the market but are predicted to grow fast, especially if Apple joins the mix.

In December, Bloomberg revealed that Apple might also be crafting a large foldable iPad, possibly expanding to the size of two iPad Pros. This new tablet could enhance gaming and media viewing and would fold for convenient storage.

Market research from IDC shows that foldable phone sales reached 19.3 million units in 2024, a 6.3% increase from the previous year. Samsung leads the pack, followed by Huawei, Motorola, and Honor, with prices generally around $1,200. In comparison, 1.4 billion smartphones were shipped in 2024.

Ramon Llamas from IDC noted it’s hard to predict how well an Apple foldable would do in the market. He commented, “Much will depend on its features and price. It could also reduce the need for both an iPhone and an iPad.”
