St. Lawrence University Athletics has named Oliver Bikhazi-Green ’25 as the new Graduate Assistant Coach for field hockey. Bikhazi-Green moves up from his role as a volunteer student assistant coach, where he supported head coach Fran Grembowicz during the 2024 season.
“We are thrilled to have Oli on board as our Graduate Assistant Coach,” said Grembowicz. “He brings valuable playing and coaching experience to the team. His tactical knowledge and ability to motivate really benefit our program.”
During his time as a volunteer, Bikhazi-Green helped the Saints achieve their best win total since 2021. He also played an important role on the men’s squash team, contributing to a two-time Liberty League finalist squad.
Bikhazi-Green’s field hockey journey began in England at Dauntsey’s School from 2016 to 2018. Even while focused on squash at St. Lawrence, he kept close ties to field hockey by participating in club activities with the Nepean Nighthawks. He also served as an administrative assistant and continued playing for Myto Field Hockey while completing his undergraduate degree.
In today’s sports environment, the emphasis on coaching experience is growing. Recent studies indicate that effective coaching can significantly impact team performance and athlete development. Coaches like Bikhazi-Green are increasingly recognized for their dual expertise in playing and coaching, which can lead to deeper connections with athletes.
