Exciting News: Bill Burr May Join Jeremy Allen White and Mikey Madison in ‘The Social Network Part II’!

Comedian Bill Burr is in talks to join the cast of Aaron Sorkin’s upcoming film, The Social Network Part II. Sorkin, who won an Academy Award for the original film in 2010, is not only directing but has also penned the new script. This sequel takes inspiration from a series of articles by Jeff Horwitz, titled “The Facebook Files” published in The Wall Street Journal.

The new film shifts focus from the creation of Facebook, now known as Meta, to the darker side of the platform. It will explore how Facebook’s own research pointed to harmful effects on teenagers, the spread of misinformation, and its role in events like the January 6, 2021 insurrection.

A strong lineup is taking shape. Jeremy Allen White will portray Horwitz, Mikey Madison will play whistleblower Frances Haugen, and Jeremy Strong is rumored to step into the role of CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Burr is expected to play a fictional character or a mix of different roles.

Production is set to begin later this year in Vancouver. With a roster of talented producers joining Sorkin, this film promises to shed light on important issues surrounding social media.

Burr, known for his stand-up comedy and acting, has recently gained attention for his directorial debut in Old Dads, which became Netflix’s most watched film worldwide shortly after its release. He also made waves on Broadway earlier this year in Glengarry Glen Ross alongside Kieran Culkin and Bob Odenkirk.

In today’s world, where misinformation spreads quickly on social media, the themes of this new film resonate loudly. A recent survey showed that 64% of Americans believe social media companies should do more to prevent the spread of false information. This suggests that audiences are eager to explore the impact of these platforms through thought-provoking narratives.

As Burr continues to expand his horizons in both comedy and drama, fans anticipate how his unique style will contribute to this significant story.
