Sony’s latest State of Play event was a treat for fighting game fans. Among the big reveals was the second beta test for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. But the exciting news didn’t stop there.
BlazBlue is making a comeback, but not exactly as you might expect. 91Act announced that BlazBlue Entropy Effect X will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch early next year.
However, this isn’t a traditional fighting game. Entropy Effect X is a roguelike action game set in the BlazBlue universe, featuring beloved characters from the series. Players will recognize familiar faces like Ragna, Jin, Kokonoe, Mai, and Noel, each armed with their signature moves.
Fans may recall that BlazBlue Entropy Effect first came to Steam in early access in 2023, before its full release last year. While it’s not clear how Entropy Effect X will differ from its predecessor, the anticipation is building.
Pricing is set at $25 for the standard edition and $35 for the deluxe edition, which includes extra character colors, the soundtrack, and chibi avatars. Physical copies will be available for PlayStation and Switch, but Xbox players will need to go digital.
The last major title in the BlazBlue series was BlazBlue: Central Fiction, released back in 2016. This game wrapped up the ongoing story, and with the departure of series producer Toshimichi Mori from Arc System Works in 2022, many fans feared the end for BlazBlue. However, Guilty Gear Strive’s producer, Ken Miyauchi, hinted at a desire to revisit the franchise.
Scheduled for release on February 12, 2026, BlazBlue Entropy Effect X has fans excited. This title merges vibrant action with a beloved universe, suggesting a dynamic future for the series. The new trailer offers a glimpse of what’s coming.
