Exciting News: Bosnian Studies Center Relocates to Saint Louis University – Discover What This Means for Students and Scholars!

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Fontbonne University’s Center for Bosnian Studies is moving to Saint Louis University this summer. This Center is unique and the only one of its kind in North America. The transition to SLU will keep the Center’s mission alive as Fontbonne closes its doors.

“For nearly 20 years, Fontbonne has supported the Bosnian community in St. Louis, honoring their history and culture,” said Nancy Blattner, Ph.D., President of Fontbonne. “As we prepare to close, we are thankful to SLU for hosting this important collection and continuing our commitment to the community.”

The Center began in 2006 as the Bosnia Memory Project and was renamed in 2020. In 2022, Fontbonne celebrated the 30th anniversary of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s independence by dedicating a special space for the Center on campus.

Jennifer Nutefall, dean of Libraries and Museums at SLU, expressed her excitement, saying, “We are proud to continue the vital work of the Center for Bosnian Studies. Moving it to SLU helps us preserve the stories of Bosnian genocide survivors for future generations.”

The Center will kick off its new chapter at SLU with an event this fall, where the Civic Courage Award will be presented.
