With each passing year, India’s railway network continues to grow and improve. A shining new example of this progress is the Amrit Bharat Express, which will soon connect Delhi and Sitamarhi, Bihar. This train is set to launch on August 8, 2025, and aims to enhance travel options while keeping costs low.
The Indian Express reports that the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, will officially flag off the train via video conferencing from Punaura Dham in Sitamarhi. This latest addition brings the total number of Amrit Bharat Express trains in India to 14, with several already operating between key cities in Bihar, such as:
– Darbhanga and Anand Vihar Terminal
– Mumbai to Saharsa
– Rajendra Nagar Terminal to New Delhi

The journey begins at 2 PM from Delhi, arriving in Sitamarhi at 10:45 AM the following day. Journeying back, the train leaves Sitamarhi at 10:15 PM Sunday and reaches Delhi by 10:40 PM on Monday.

### Why It Matters
The introduction of this train is more than just a new schedule. It reflects ongoing efforts to modernize India’s transportation and improve connectivity across regions. In recent years, many Indians have taken to social media to discuss their excitement about new train routes and the potential for easier, more affordable travel. A recent survey by the Indian Railways indicated that public satisfaction with train services is at an all-time high, with 75% of respondents stating that they now find train travel more comfortable than in the past.
As we look at how rail transport has evolved, historical contexts remind us that just a few decades ago, journeys between major cities took much longer and were often uncomfortable. Today’s advancements signify a shift toward prioritizing passenger comfort and convenience.
The Amrit Bharat Express is bound to change how people travel between these two important cities. By providing a faster, more efficient travel option, it will likely foster closer connections between communities, boost local economies, and enhance overall accessibility.
