Dragon Quest 11 S Coming to Nintendo Switch 2
Square Enix just announced that Dragon Quest 11 S will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 24, 2026. If you’ve been following the gaming news, this might not be a surprise. A rating appeared in Taiwan recently, hinting at this release.
This version of Dragon Quest 11 S will largely mirror the Switch 1 edition but comes with new features. Players can now choose between resolution and performance modes to either enhance visual quality or improve frame rate.
In this RPG, you play as the Luminary, a hero tasked with saving the land from evil. Alongside a diverse team of adventurers, you’ll dive into engaging, turn-based battles. Explore the vast kingdom of Erdrea, forge new gear, and enhance your party’s skills. A unique twist in this edition lets you ride and battle with monsters to earn experience points.
One exciting addition is the ability to switch between HD visuals or classic 16-bit graphics, as well as choose between symphonic or synth music. You can even select audio in English or Japanese. The game offers new character-focused storylines and even lets you revisit past Dragon Quest worlds.
As you journey, you’ll encounter Tockles, mystical creatures that allow you to step into retro-style versions of popular Dragon Quest areas from games like Dragon Quest 4 and Dragon Quest 8. This retro approach fits nicely with the game’s 2D mode. The character designs, created by the famous Akira Toriyama, breathe life into the personalities of your companions and foes.
For those seeking a challenge, the Draconian Quest setting is available. And, with the new Photo Mode, capturing your favorite moments adds a personal touch to your adventure.
Overall, Dragon Quest 11 S is set to bring nostalgia while delivering fresh experiences. Fans are eager to see how this beloved series evolves with new technology and gameplay mechanics.
