The University has partnered with Human Capital Education (HCE) to launch a new recruitment and admissions platform called Slate. They aim to complete the switch from the current Salesforce system by July 1.

Fabrizio D’Aloisio, the Vice President for Enrollment Management, mentioned that HCE will tailor the system to fit the University’s unique needs. This change aims to remove manual processes and technical issues while helping the University meet important enrollment goals.

“We’re moving from a complicated mix of third-party tools to a single platform designed just for higher education,” D’Aloisio explained. “This change is crucial for the University’s overall health and gives our teams the tools they need to succeed.”

HCE is recognized as a Slate Platinum Partner and has successfully implemented similar systems at other institutions. For instance, when they transitioned Oregon State University from Salesforce to Slate, there was a remarkable 22.7% increase in undergraduate applications in just the first year. HCE’s dedicated team for WVU will ensure strong support through hands-on training sessions and digital resources.

According to D’Aloisio, they will focus on the most essential features for both undergraduate and graduate admissions first, ensuring readiness before the next recruiting period begins. After the initial rollout on July 1, they will use a “just-in-time” approach to add more features, timed with key recruitment milestones. This strategy ensures that new tools are available exactly when they’re most needed, with full rollout expected by the end of the year.

Slate will streamline various aspects of the admissions process, including communications, event management, fraud detection, application management, and analytics. This transition not only simplifies operations but also aims to lower long-term costs associated with technology and licensing.

This strategic shift reflects a growing trend in education. According to recent data from the National Center for Education Statistics, more than 60% of colleges and universities are investing in updated technology to improve student recruitment and retention.
