Indian Railways is gearing up to launch a new Vande Bharat Express between Bengaluru and Mangaluru in Karnataka. This announcement came from Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw at a press conference in Bengaluru. This new semi-high-speed train is part of a broader plan to enhance travel between major Southern cities.
Vande Bharat Express trains have been gaining popularity across India. This year alone, Indian Railways has rolled out services on crucial rail corridors. The upcoming service will provide travelers with faster and more comfortable journeys. Passengers can expect modern amenities and reduced travel times compared to traditional trains.
During the press event, Vaishnaw highlighted the focus on safety and infrastructure. He mentioned that the new train service would start soon, once safety checks are complete and the track is fully electrified. Such moves indicate a commitment to improving travel efficiency and passenger comfort.
Speaking of investment, the railway sector in Karnataka is set to see a record expenditure of ₹7,748 crores from Indian Railways in the next year. Experts in transport infrastructure stress that such investments are critical for economic growth and connectivity. They argue that enhancing rail networks can significantly boost local economies by facilitating trade and tourism.
The Vande Bharat Express features AC chair car and executive chair car options. Passengers can enjoy onboard catering, automatic closing doors, and large windows for views along the route. These features are designed to elevate the travel experience. Additionally, the trains come equipped with safety measures like anti-collision systems, prioritizing passenger safety.
Currently, Vande Bharat trains connect Bengaluru with several destinations in Karnataka, including Dharwad, Belagavi, and more. The introduction of the new route will only expand this network. Enthusiastic travelers are already discussing these developments on social media, expressing excitement about the improved connectivity in the region.
Expanding beyond railways, Indian Railways is also focused on the Bengaluru Metro Rail Phase II project. This initiative aims to enhance urban transportation options in the city, making it easier for residents to commute.
All in all, the new Vande Bharat Express reflects a notable shift towards modern fast rail transport in India. The government’s investment in rail infrastructure signals a commitment to enhanced connectivity for the future.
