Exciting News: Google Set to Roll Out AirDrop Support for More Android Phones Soon!

Exciting news is on the way for Android users! Google is expanding AirDrop support through Quick Share, a feature that was first introduced with the Pixel 10 series last year. Eric Kay, Google’s VP of Engineering for Android, shared this during a recent press event in Taipei.

Currently, Quick Share allows users to easily transfer files between Android devices and iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks. Kay mentioned that the feature has been successful, and they plan to roll it out to more Android phones this year. He emphasizes that they wanted to ensure compatibility before expanding to additional devices.

Since launching in November 2025, Quick Share has largely been limited to the Pixel 10 series. Now, with new announcements expected soon, Android users are eager to see which devices will gain this helpful feature. There’s speculation that Google might make announcements during upcoming events like Samsung’s Unpacked event or Mobile World Congress.

This move aims to make it easier for users to switch between Android and iOS devices. Kay noted that Google is focusing on helping users transfer data smoothly when switching to Android from iOS, enhancing their overall experience.

Recent surveys show that many users face challenges when moving from one ecosystem to another. According to a 2023 report from the Pew Research Center, 46% of smartphone users express frustration when transferring files between different operating systems. By simplifying this process, Google could help many make smoother transitions, which reflects a broader trend in technology aiming for greater usability across different platforms.

As the lines between Android and iOS continue to blur, we can expect more features designed for better integration. Stay tuned for updates as Google reveals more about this upcoming feature expansion!
