MEMPHIS – Learfield, which handles multimedia rights for Memphis Athletics, has promoted Greg Gaston to General Manager of Tiger Sports Properties.
Gaston has been with Tiger Sports Properties for 12 years, starting as an Account Executive in August 2013. He has built strong relationships with partners and has taken on greater responsibilities over the years. He became Senior Manager of Business Development in 2018 and moved up to Associate General Manager in 2020 before this latest promotion.
As the new GM, Greg will be the main contact for Learfield in relation to the university’s athletics media rights and corporate partnerships. He will collaborate closely with Dr. Ed Scott, Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, and the athletics administration to enhance the partnership between Learfield and Memphis Athletics. This includes utilizing various Learfield services like digital ticketing and marketing platforms and licensed merchandise.
“Greg brings valuable experience and knowledge to this role,” said Dr. Scott. “We are excited about the future of our relationship with Learfield and are confident that we can strengthen our brand with Greg at the helm. We also want to thank Todd Kucinski for his contributions during his time with us.”
Before joining TSP, Gaston worked in sports management internships and started his career as an attorney in civil and criminal defense. His passion for sports ultimately led him back into the field he loves.
“The Memphis Tigers mean a lot to my family, and I’m excited to step into this role,” Gaston shared. “This is a pivotal time in college sports, and I’m eager to work with Dr. Scott and the team to promote Memphis Athletics and connect with our fans and partners.”
Gaston graduated from the University of Memphis Law School in 2012 and earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland in 2009. He was also a four-year football letterwinner for the Terrapins.
Gaston comes from a family deeply connected to the Tigers; his father has been the television voice of the team and now works as a radio broadcaster. He lives in Memphis with his wife, Dory, who is the team dentist, and their two children, Lucy and James.
