Sebastiaan de With, co-founder of the popular iPhone camera app Halide, recently shared exciting news: he’s joining the Human Interface Design team at Apple. In his own words, he’s “so excited to work with the very best team in the world on my favorite products.”
This isn’t de With’s first time at Apple. He previously contributed to projects like iCloud and the Find My app. His expertise isn’t limited to Apple; he’s also worked with big names like Sony and Oracle.
Apple’s design team has seen many changes recently. Last year, former software design chief Alan Dye left for Meta, while hardware engineering chief John Ternus is now overseeing both hardware and software design. This shift indicates a broader strategy at Apple, trying to innovate more cohesively.
Interestingly, as Apple adapts, some of its designers have joined Jony Ive’s new firm, LoveFrom. Ive, once Apple’s design leader, is now working on projects that blend design with AI, showcasing a trend where design and technology increasingly intersect.
In related news, Halide’s parent company, Lux, just launched a public preview of Halide Mark III, the next version of the camera app that has captivated many photography enthusiasts.
