New Amrit Bharat Express: Brahmapur to Udhna (Surat)
Indian Railways is launching a new train service, the Amrit Bharat Express, connecting Brahmapur in Odisha to Udhna in Surat, Gujarat. This modern train will pass through key districts in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat, facilitating trade and travel.
The launch is set for September 27, with the inaugural train (Train No. 09022) departing at noon and arriving the next day at 9 PM. Covering a distance of 1,708 kilometers, the journey will take approximately 33 hours. Key routes include Vizianagaram, Rayagada, Titlagarh, and Nagpur, connecting major cities along the way.
During its journey, the Amrit Bharat Express will stop at significant stations like Palasa, Raipur, and Akola. It will consist of 22 coaches, including general seating, sleeper classes, and a pantry car, meeting the needs of different passengers.
This new train is expected to enhance economic and industrial mobility, particularly for regions known for minerals and textiles. Regions like Ganjam, Rayagada, and Surat will see improved access to markets and job opportunities.
Experts say that better rail connectivity can significantly boost local economies. According to recent studies, improved transport links can increase regional GDP by up to 1.5% annually. As more destinations become accessible, more people will travel for business and leisure.
