Exciting News for Train Travelers: The second Vande Bharat Sleeper train is set to launch in March. While we don’t know the exact route yet, experts predict it could link major cities like Delhi-Howrah, Delhi-Mumbai, or Chennai-Bengaluru-Mumbai.
A senior Railway Board official shared that the plan is to roll out a total of 12 Vande Bharat Sleeper trains by 2026. These trains will come with technological upgrades aimed at enhancing passenger comfort. Designed by Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), they promise a travel experience similar to flying first-class or staying in a luxury hotel. For instance, the aisles will feature smart sensor lights that turn on only when you move through them.
This train will also introduce bolsterless coaches. This means your cup of tea will stay in place even if the train speeds up to 160 km/h! Other amenities include airplane-style bio-vacuum toilets and touch-free faucets, making the onboard experience even more convenient.
VIP Quota Changes: Recently, the Railway Board announced a significant update. The emergency quota (YIP quota) for these premium trains has been reinstated. This decision, made on February 9, aims to address urgent passenger needs like medical emergencies and government duties. Initially, only quotas for women, senior citizens, and people with disabilities were available to ensure transparency. However, rising demand prompted this change.
In Amrit Bharat Express trains with seven or more sleeper coaches, 24 berths will be set aside for emergencies. For Vande Bharat Sleeper, the debt dynamics will vary by coach class. On normal days, 4 to 6 berths will be reserved in AC-1, 20 to 30 in AC-2, and 24 to 42 in AC-3. These seats remain free until a chart is prepared. If there are no emergency requests, they go to regular passengers on the waiting list.
This quota addresses various scenarios including medical emergencies, family deaths, or urgent government duties. It’s significant as it reflects the increasing need for flexible travel options in modern India. Understanding these changes can help passengers make informed decisions as they journey across the country.
Overall, these upgrades and changes illustrate the Indian Railways’ commitment to improving passenger experiences. The introduction of advanced seating configurations and emergency provisions signifies a shift towards a more passenger-focused approach, aiming to meet the evolving demands of travelers.
