Kuwait’s Jazeera Airways is expanding its reach in India with four new destinations: Kozhikode, Tiruchirappalli, Mangalore, and Kannur. This addition is part of their initiative known as Project Vande Bharat. Now, Jazeera Airways connects a total of 12 Indian cities and operates 49 flights weekly between Kuwait and India.
These new routes aim to better serve the large Indian community in Kuwait. They help strengthen social and economic ties by making travel easier for families and workers across both nations. The flights will connect through King Fahad International Airport in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, making travel to South India more convenient.
Barathan Pasupathi, the Chief Executive Officer, emphasized the importance of India as a key market for the airline. Since resuming flights to India in March 2023, Jazeera has already carried over 11,000 passengers. With the expanded network, travelers from Kuwait can now access their hometowns more directly.
Kaizar Shakir, Chairman of the Indian Business and Professionals Council in Kuwait, praised Jazeera’s efforts, pointing out that these connections are crucial for the Indian community, especially in challenging times.
As an additional note, air travel has surged in recent years. According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), global air travel demand almost doubled in 2022 compared to 2021. This trend reflects not just a recovery from the pandemic, but also a growing need for connectivity between regions, especially for diasporas.
