Exciting News: Karla Sofía Gascón to Walk the Oscars Red Carpet as Netflix Covers Expenses Following Twitter Controversy!

Karla Sofia Gascón is set to attend the Oscars on March 2 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. Netflix will cover her expenses for the event. She is nominated for Best Actress for her role in the Spanish-language musical, “Emilia Pérez.”

Plans for her appearance are still coming together. It’s unclear if she will walk the red carpet, take interviews, or sit close to her co-stars Zoe Saldaña and Selena Gomez, along with director Jacques Audiard.

Before the Oscars, Gascón will be in Paris for the César Awards on February 28.

However, her awards season has not gone smoothly. Gascón faced backlash for previous social media posts that expressed controversial ideas about Muslims, George Floyd, and diversity in the film industry. This controversy caused her to miss key events like the Critics Choice Awards, BAFTA Film Awards, and SAG Awards, even though she had received nominations for all three.

After the backlash, Gascón issued an apology, expressing regret for the hurt caused by her posts. She emphasized her commitment to fighting for a better world and acknowledged the struggles faced by marginalized communities.

In a recent interview with CNN en Español, Gascón stated she would not be making further comments on the issue.

Notably, Gascón is the first openly trans actor to receive an Oscar nomination. She previously made history as the first transgender woman to win Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival, an award she shared with her co-stars, and to be nominated for a Golden Globe in film acting. She is represented by UTA.

No comments have been made by her representatives or Netflix regarding these events. The New York Post was the first to report on this story.
