Exciting News: Kuo Reveals Apple’s Upcoming Budget MacBook with iPhone Processor!

Apple’s most budget-friendly laptop right now is the $999 MacBook Air. However, industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Apple is gearing up to release an even more affordable model.

Kuo shared on social media that production for this new MacBook could start in late 2025 or early 2026. This model will be powered by the A18 Pro chip, the same chip found in the iPhone 16 Pro. It’s expected to come in a variety of colors, such as silver, pink, and yellow.

The upcoming MacBook will likely maintain the same 13-inch display as the current MacBook Air, which suggests that the A18 Pro chip will be the main difference users will see.

As for pricing, it’s still unclear how much cheaper this new model will be. Kuo estimates Apple could produce between 5 to 7 million units in 2026, indicating they anticipate a significant demand. This implies that they might set a competitive price to attract many buyers.

While all current Macs rely on Apple’s M-series chips, the A18 Pro is potent enough for standard Mac tasks. Geekbench scores show that the A18 Pro’s single-core performance is impressive, sitting at around 3,500, just a bit lower than the M4 used in the Mac mini. In multi-core tests, the A18 Pro scores about 8,780, which is not far from the original M1 chip released in 2020. For basic tasks, many users might not even notice differences in performance.

The success of this new MacBook will hinge primarily on its price. Apple has never offered a laptop below $999, so this would be a significant change for the company and consumers alike.

Recent trends show that consumers are increasingly looking for budget-friendly tech. According to a report by Statista, 61% of consumers consider price as the most critical factor when selecting tech products. As Apple enters this new market, it may face both opportunities and challenges in appealing to a price-sensitive audience.
