Exciting News: Lewis Pullman in Talks to Join Father Bill Pullman in Upcoming ‘Spaceballs’ Sequel!

Almost ten years ago, Lewis Pullman kicked off his acting career alongside his dad, Bill Pullman, in the western film The Ballad of Lefty Brown. Since then, he’s been carving his own space in Hollywood, starring in blockbuster films like Top Gun: Maverick and earning an Emmy nomination for Lessons in Chemistry.

Now, Lewis is in talks to join his father once again in the forthcoming Spaceballs sequel. Bill Pullman originally played Lone Starr in the beloved 1987 film directed by Mel Brooks, known for its clever parodies of franchises like Star Wars and Star Trek.

Amazon MGM Studios aims to release the sequel theatrically in 2027, though they haven’t confirmed Lewis’s role yet. Josh Greenbaum will direct, bringing along a script written by Benji Samit, Dan Hernandez, and Josh Gad, who also stars with Keke Palmer. Mel Brooks will reprise his iconic role as Yogurt.

Returning cast members include Rick Moranis and Daphne Zuniga. Reports suggest that Lewis will play a character named Starburst, the son of Queen Vespa (Zuniga) and Lone Starr (Bill Pullman). Keke Palmer is set to play a new character named Destiny, making them all key players in the film.

While specific plot details are scarce, Amazon describes the project as “A Non-Prequel Non-Reboot Sequel Part Two” with elements that could expand the franchise. This playful description hints at the comedic essence that made the original film so popular.

Producers include Brian Grazer and Jeb Brody, alongside Gad, Brooks, and Greenbaum. The executive producers—Kevin Slater, Adam Merims, Benji Samit, and Dan Hernandez—bring a wealth of experience to the project.

Interestingly, Lewis once wanted to separate his career from his father’s legacy. However, he recently shared with THR that he’s shifted his perspective: “For a long time, I was very stubborn, but now it’s a gift to share experiences and get advice from my dad.” This reflects a growing trend among young actors who value mentorship from established family members in the industry.
