New Ulm is about to get a new healthcare option. Madelia Health is set to launch its new clinic in the Gislason & Hunter building at 2700 S. Broadway. The opening is targeted for October 1.
Madelia Health’s CEO, David Walz, shared that there has been a growing demand for a clinic in New Ulm. Over the years, many patients and community members voiced this need. After the building’s owner reached out about available space, they took a closer look and found a perfect fit for their clinic.
This clinic will operate Monday through Friday, staffed largely by nurse practitioners. It aims to offer comprehensive services, from wellness exams to the convenience of walk-in visits. Specialists like podiatrists and dermatologists will also be available a few days each month, enhancing the clinic’s offerings.
The history of Madelia Health dates back over 100 years. It began with Dr. W.J. McCarthy, who transformed a residence into a 12-bed hospital. The organization has since expanded to include several clinics in nearby towns. Today, it continues its mission of providing family healthcare, supported by a skilled team dedicated to patient care.
The clinic’s construction is currently underway, with renovations adapting former law offices for medical use. Walz remains optimistic that the work will be finished on time, pending the final insurance survey. This new clinic not only reflects Madelia Health’s growth but also its commitment to making healthcare more accessible to the residents of New Ulm.
Access to healthcare is increasingly vital. As recent statistics show, rural areas often grapple with service shortages. According to a 2022 report from the National Rural Health Association, nearly 20% of rural Americans live in areas with inadequate access to primary care. The opening of the New Ulm clinic will help bridge that gap, catering to a community eager for local healthcare solutions.
As the world becomes more health-conscious, local communities are recognizing the importance of accessible medical services. Madelia Health’s expansion is a timely response to that need, and it hopes to better serve New Ulm residents in the months to come.
