Nintendo is set to launch another playtest for the Nintendo Switch Online later this month. This is a continuation of a similar test they hosted last October. To join in, you’ll need a Nintendo Account and an active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership.
What’s new this time? Participants can download exclusive software not just for the original Nintendo Switch, but also for the recently released Switch 2.
The playtest runs from July 28 to August 10, 2025, and is open to users in multiple countries, including the US, Mexico, Canada, Brazil, Japan, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. You can register on Nintendo’s official website. If you took part in the previous playtest, you can sign up solo or as a group. However, spots will fill quickly, so it’s on a first-come, first-served basis.
In the previous playtest, Nintendo asked participants not to share any details, but some users managed to leak information online, including live streams. Expect similar rules this time around, with an anticipated 40,000 participants worldwide.
In related news, recent data from gaming surveys shows that multiplayer functionality is increasingly important for Switch users, highlighting the relevance of this playtest. Trends on social media also show a high level of excitement and speculation among gamers looking forward to what this new software could bring.
Nintendo continues to engage its community, and this playtest is another step in that direction, aiming to gather feedback for improvements and future releases. For more insights about online gaming trends, you can check reports from trusted sources like Statista.
