Recently, the Wethersfield High School gym buzzed with excitement. Friends, family, and faculty came together to celebrate a special moment for Noah Feltner. This senior signed his letter of intent to join the cross country and track teams at Millikin University next fall.

“Noah has been an outstanding student-athlete here at Wethersfield,” remarked Athletic Director Tom McGunnigal.

Noah’s achievements in cross country stand out:

  • Three-time Top 10 All-Conference runner
  • Two-time State Qualifier
  • Senior captain of the Annawan-Wethersfield cross country team
  • Fastest men’s team in school history
  • Fourth fastest runner in Annawan-Wethersfield history

In track, he was part of significant milestones:

  • Consistently named Academic All-Conference for all four years

Noah’s proudest moment? Qualifying for the state meet with the first men’s cross country team in school history. He plans to major in law enforcement at Millikin while also running track and cross country.

Millikin University, located in Decatur, Illinois, has about 1,600 students. Celebrating its 125th anniversary this year, it is known for its welcoming community and diverse programs. Noah was drawn there for its academic offerings and affordability.

Recent statistics show that participation in college sports boosts academic performance by about 20%. This trend highlights how students like Noah not only excel in sports but also thrive in their studies. Millikin’s men’s cross country team recently finished fourth at the 2025 CCIW Championships and 13th at the NCAA Midwest Regional. This young team is eager to grow, making Noah a valuable addition.

As Noah steps into this new chapter, his journey resonates with many students aiming to balance academics and athletics. It’s an exciting time for him and his community as they cheer him on.
