Notably, Perplexity’s app will be preloaded on the new Razrs, marking its first distribution deal with a smartphone maker. Buyers will also enjoy three complimentary months of Perplexity Pro. However, it won’t be at the forefront; the phone’s interface will primarily reflect Google’s influence.

While Perplexity won’t be the default assistant on these devices, it is integrated into Motorola’s AI platform. When users interact with features like the calendar or web browsing, they will see prompts to "Explore with Perplexity." The app has been designed to function well with Motorola’s foldable screens, enhancing the user experience.

Additionally, Motorola has incorporated other AI technologies. Microsoft Copilot will offer an "Ask Copilot" feature within the Moto AI. Furthermore, Meta’s Llama model will drive a feature called Catch Me Up, designed to summarize notifications from chosen apps.

The choice to use multiple AI systems raises questions. It seems to be a strategic move to leverage the strengths of different companies, all eager to grow their user bases. Interestingly, Perplexity stated that no financial transactions occurred during this partnership, indicating a focus on user growth rather than profit. However, with Gemini receiving top billing, it may pose challenges for Perplexity to stand out.
