New Role for William L. Hathaway in Higher Education Accreditation

William L. Hathaway, Ph.D., the Provost of Regent University, has been appointed as an alternate negotiator for the U.S. Department of Education’s Accreditation, Innovation, and Modernization Committee. This spring, he will take part in critical discussions in Washington, D.C., focused on revamping the accreditation system for higher education.
Hathaway was nominated for this role by the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU), an organization that represents over 170 institutions worldwide. His experience spans various types of accreditations at institutional and federal levels, making him a valuable asset for this committee.
In his words, “Being part of this rulemaking process allows us to influence the regulations that shape the accreditation landscape in the U.S. It’s essential for faith-based institutions to have a say in these matters, especially during such significant changes in higher education.”
