Ottawa University’s head women’s basketball coach, Hunter Bondurant, has exciting news: Addison Richards is joining the team as the new assistant coach.
“We’re thrilled to have Coach Richards on board,” said Bondurant. “She brings energy, expertise, and experience as a former NCAA Division I player and professional athlete. Her impact will be felt across campus and among our student-athletes. Coach Richards is a rising star, and we look forward to her contributions!”
Before coming to Ottawa, Richards worked as a graduate assistant for the University of Tulsa’s women’s basketball program. There, she not only managed her studies but also took on many responsibilities. She stepped up as the interim Director of Operations, where she organized community outreach, handled travel logistics, and managed recruiting visits. She also helped prepare game strategies by analyzing scouting reports and supporting her coaching team.
“I’m excited to join the women’s basketball program as an assistant coach,” Richards said. “This opportunity feels special. I am eager to build relationships and support the team in any way I can.”
Richards’ background in professional basketball is impressive. She played internationally for teams like the Saarlouis Royals in Germany and Adelitas de Chihuahua in Mexico. Competing at a high level, she adapted smoothly to different cultures and languages. Since 2020, she has also trained over 150 athletes at ElevS Hoops, focusing on their skill development and personal growth both on and off the court.
During her collegiate career at the University of Tulsa, Richards played 104 games and averaged 8.0 points and 2.9 rebounds. Her experience doesn’t stop at basketball; she also held a position as Director of Operations for Paine & Associates Commercial Real Estate in Tulsa, where she worked with leadership on strategic planning and project coordination.
Richards’ mix of coaching, professional play, and operational skills will be a great asset to Ottawa University’s women’s basketball program. As sports continue to evolve, strong leadership like hers can help build winning teams and foster a positive culture.
