  • Founded by designer Melissa Skowlund, the new 4,100-square-foot location expands the studio’s retail space and includes a design bar for client consultations.

“We aim to create beauty in our customers’ lives,” said Skowlund. “Watersound offers an all-in-one experience for our clients.” The new spot is strategically located near growing communities like Watersound Origins and Camp Creek, promising fresh design opportunities.

Summer House Lifestyle’s projects range from beachfront properties along 30A to bustling urban spaces in Washington D.C., New York, and Wisconsin. Notable designs include a Nashville horse farm estate and a stunning waterfront home in Greenwich, Connecticut.

  • “We’re proud to collaborate with talented subcontractors and local vendors who bring our clients’ visions to life,” added Skowlund.

The new boutique is uniquely organized by room. Customers can explore fully styled spaces, reflecting the studio’s signature timeless elegance.

  • “Whether you’re redesigning one room or an entire home, our space helps you see all the possibilities,” Skowlund explained.

The boutique offers a variety of home furnishings—including white linen sofas, woven textiles, and natural stone pieces—along with clothing and accessories from brands like Anna Beck Jewelry and Autumn Cashmere. Recent additions include collections from Ann Mashburn and Karen Adams Designs.

Skowlund’s design philosophy prioritizes sophistication over fleeting trends. “We want to help clients achieve elegance that fits their taste without the pressure to conform to changing trends,” she said.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Walton Area Chamber of Commerce is set for Thursday, May 1, at 4 p.m. This will be followed by a grand opening celebration with refreshments and giveaways, inviting the community to celebrate.

Summer House Lifestyle is open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, visit their website.

Research shows that the interior design market is projected to grow to $255 billion by 2024. This illustrates the increasing public interest in personalized home design. As people spend more time at home, creating spaces that reflect individual styles is becoming essential.

In light of this trend, Skowlund’s approach resonates well with what clients desire: a personalized, yet sophisticated, living environment. As noted by design experts, investing in quality interiors can lead to improved well-being, making such experiences more valuable than ever.
