Exciting News: University of Washington Welcomes Serbian Star Nikola Dzepina!

SEATTLE – Washington’s head men’s basketball coach, Danny Sprinkle, recently welcomed Serbian forward Nikola Dzepina to the team. Dzepina, who made a big leap in his career by signing with Valencia Basket in Spain in March 2024, is set to join the Huskies in December for the winter quarter.

“Nikola brings a rare combination of size and skill that will enhance our roster as we move into the second half of the season,” said Sprinkle. “His standout performance at the U19 World Cup this summer impressed our coaching staff. With his professional background, he has the size, skill, and basketball IQ needed to succeed in the Big Ten.”

Dzepina gained attention during the 2025 FIBA U19 World Cup held in Switzerland. He played a crucial role as Serbia reached the Gold Medal Game, going head-to-head with Team USA and current Huskies player JJ Mandaquit.

At the tournament, Dzepina was a scoring machine, averaging 16.4 points per game with an impressive shooting percentage of 52.3%. He also contributed 5.4 rebounds per game. In Serbia’s opening game against Mali, he scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds. His breakout moment came in a match against the Dominican Republic, where he made 10 of 15 shots, including two three-pointers, leading Serbia with 26 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

In the final stages of the tournament, Dzepina showcased his skills against France, scoring 17 points and collecting a remarkable nine rebounds—an impressive feat that highlighted his versatility and talent.

Washington’s regular season kicks off on November 3, as they host UAPB at 8:00 p.m. PT at Alaska Airlines Arena. Fans can catch the game via B1G+ streaming.
