For the first time, Indian Railways has introduced ‘self-regulating heating cables’ that adjust their heat output based on the external temperature. This helps prevent water pipes from freezing up.
Additionally, 1800W heating pads are placed in the water tanks to keep everything functional. Special heating options in the restrooms ensure passengers stay comfortable, even in chilly conditions. The train also includes a system for draining water completely to prevent stagnation and freezing while parked.
Another innovative feature is the embedded heating element that prevents the driver’s windshield from fogging up during snow or foggy weather. This means better visibility and safer travel. Plus, additional heaters in the air dryer system help maintain the brakes effectively.
CCTV cameras boost security, and the train operates at a speed of 160 km/h, ensuring passengers reach their destinations quickly and safely.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal remarked that this specialized train meets a long-standing need for reliable travel in harsh weather. It aims to connect devotees heading to Vaishno Devi with the scenic Kashmir Valley and promote local tourism.
