William “Bill” Gobble ’03 Takes the Helm of Alumni Council

Virginia Wesleyan University is excited to share that William “Bill” Gobble, a 2003 graduate, has been appointed chair of the Alumni Council. This 18-member group is dedicated to creating a strong connection between graduates and the University. They also play a crucial role in supporting enrollment and various advancement programs.
During his time at Virginia Wesleyan, Gobble was not just a student but a vibrant part of campus life. He majored in what is now called Management, Business, and Economics and was co-captain of the Men’s Basketball Team under the guidance of longtime coach Dave Macedo.
Gobble’s career spans over 22 years with American Funds, focusing on financial and operational risk management. His professional journey mirrors the commitment and leadership he showed as a student-athlete. His experience adds significant value to his new role.
As chair of the Alumni Council, Gobble is excited to channel his passion and pride for VWU. His goal is to deepen connections between alumni and the University while enhancing the community spirit that makes Virginia Wesleyan unique.
