Exciting News: Winter Juniors Qualifier Jude Carlton Chooses Youngstown State University for 2025!

Jude Carlton, a swimmer from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, has announced his commitment to Youngstown State University. This marks a special moment as he will be the first college athlete in his family in three generations. Carlton is excited to combine his academic and athletic journeys at Youngstown.

“I’m thrilled to share my verbal commitment to Youngstown State University. Huge thanks to my teammates, family, and coaches for their guidance along the way. Let’s go Guins!” he shared.

### Performance Highlights

Carlton shines in the 100 breaststroke, clocking an impressive time of 56.35. Just recently, he nearly matched this at the Winter Juniors West, finishing with a time of 56.42. At the Wisconsin LSC Senior Championship, he placed 7th in both the 50 breaststroke and 100 breaststroke.

His breakout moment came in the 200 freestyle, where he helped his team achieve an 11th place finish in the 800 free relay. Overall, Carlton displayed consistent improvement in various events, setting personal bests in both the 50 and 100 freestyle.

### Future Prospects

In the upcoming season, Carlton would have ranked third among Youngstown’s roster in the 100 breaststroke, trailing only James Slessor and Dom Panozzo. The top time to reach the ‘A’ final at the Horizon League Championship is 55.63, suggesting that he is not far from competing at that level.

Youngstown State is a Division 1 Mid-Major college and aims to grow its swimming program. This year, they finished 5th out of 7 schools in their league, and Carlton will join an international group of recruits to strengthen the team.

In the realm of college sports, a recent survey showed that 70% of prospective student-athletes prioritize academics over athletics when choosing a school. This means Carlton’s decision aligns well with broader trends among student-athletes today.

### Conclusion

As Carlton prepares for this next chapter, he represents a blend of talent and determination. His journey reflects the aspirations of many young athletes striving for success both in the pool and in the classroom.
