Exciting Opportunity: Join Our Voluntary Separation Incentive Program for Qualified Faculty!

University of Nebraska System President Jeffrey P. Gold, MD, announced a new Voluntary Separation Incentive Program on August 8.

Dear faculty and staff,

To ensure the University of Nebraska remains strong and financially sound, we are launching a Voluntary Separation Incentive Program (VSIP) this fall. This program is open to eligible tenured faculty across our campuses.

We truly appreciate the dedication each of you shows to our university’s mission. While only certain faculty members can apply, the program represents our ongoing commitment to planning and resource management. This effort benefits everyone in our university community.

Offering this program now is both appropriate and timely. Many senior faculty members, who have dedicated years to their work, may be considering retirement. The VSIP provides a meaningful option for those individuals while allowing us to realign resources for key priorities and prepare for future challenges.

You can apply for the VSIP until September 30, 2025. For more details on eligibility, financial aspects, and timing, check out the FAQ here. Eligible faculty will receive application materials soon. Each application will be reviewed individually and must be approved by the campus chancellor.
