The Hoover City Council will review new projects on February 17. One of these is a family entertainment center proposed for Lorna Road, and the other is a cocktail bar planned for Knox Square near Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.
Stars Entertainment wants to open a family entertainment center in The Village on Lorna. This center will occupy the space where Bargain Hunt is currently located. The planned facility will cover 54,800 square feet and include 16 bowling lanes, a trampoline and arcade area, a gel blaster room, large party rooms, smaller party rooms, and a kitchen.
On January 13, the Hoover Planning and Zoning Commission recommended the project to the city council. A public hearing and vote will take place on February 17.
Johnny Jones, a representative for Stars Entertainment, mentioned that the team also runs Altitude Trampoline Park in Pelham and is currently developing another family entertainment center in Moody. Jones, who grew up in the Hoover area, believes this location is ideal for a new entertainment venue.
The proposed center will operate from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, extend hours until 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, and close at midnight on Sundays. If approved, the company will also enhance landscaping in the parking lot, replacing four trees and adding seven more in additional islands.
In another development, Lantrice Green is seeking permission to open a cocktail bar named Sticks & Stones. This bar will be located in Knox Square along Stadium Trace Parkway. Green has lived in Hoover for about 12 years and wishes to create a local spot for upscale cocktails, making it easier for residents to enjoy without traveling to Birmingham.
The bar will feature seating for around 60 guests, and live entertainment will be available indoors. Green believes it will appeal to retirees moving into new communities in the area.
