Exciting Preseason Honors for Ole Miss Rebels Golfers in PGA Tour University

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – As the 2025-26 college golf season approaches, PGA TOUR University has unveiled its Preseason Rankings. Among the top contenders, four players from Ole Miss have made the list. The standout is Michael La Sasso, the reigning NCAA individual champion, who holds the impressive No. 3 spot. He’s joined by Tom Fischer at No. 16, Cameron Tankersley at No. 17, and Cohen Trolio at No. 25.

What’s striking is that Ole Miss leads all schools with four players in the top 25, highlighting its strong golf program. This ranking system, created in partnership with the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), evaluates players based on their performance over the last two years.

Eligible tournaments for these rankings include major NCAA Division I competitions and select PGA TOUR and DP World Tour events. The ranking period for the Class of 2026 started in late 2024 and will continue until June 1, 2026, ending with the NCAA Championship.

The No. 1 player at the end of this ranking will earn a coveted PGA TOUR membership. Meanwhile, players ranked from two to ten will secure Korn Ferry Tour membership, enhancing their chances at competing professionally. Notably, the second to fifth place finishers will have an exemption into the final stage of Q-School.

Since its launch in 2020, PGA TOUR University has helped 104 players from 47 different schools gain performance benefits. Among those, 25 alumni have achieved a combined 39 professional victories, with eight currently ranked in the top 100 of the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR).

This program not only endorses young talent but also significantly increases their chances of professional success. In fact, 18 alumni have already earned their PGA TOUR cards for the upcoming 2025 season, showcasing the program’s positive impact.

Though student-athletes work hard academically and athletically, many view golf as a potential career path. As revealed in a recent survey by the NCAA, nearly 60% of college golfers aspire to compete professionally. The PGA TOUR University initiative sets them on that path.

PGA TOUR University continues to shape the future of golf, encouraging emerging players to reach their goals while redefining collegiate sports with modern opportunities.
