The Tennessee men’s golf team is gearing up for a thrilling spring season, with their third tournament just around the corner. From March 16 to March 18, they’ll compete at the prestigious Pauma Valley Collegiate in California. This beautiful course, nestled at the base of Palomar Mountain, is known for its challenging layout, stretching over 7,311 yards at a par 71.
Last year, the Vols made their debut here, finishing fifth in a strong field that included top 25 teams. They closed that tournament at 5-under-par, while LSU took the title at 27-under-par. Lance Simpson led the team with an impressive 11th place individually.
This year’s competition promises to be just as fierce, with nine top 20 teams participating, including No. 2 Virginia and No. 3 Florida.
Tennessee’s Players:
Lance Simpson: As a senior, he boasts an impressive average of 70.06 this season. After a disappointing 42nd place finish at the Cabo Collegiate, he’s eager to bounce back.
Jackson Herrington: This will be his last tournament before heading to the Masters at Augusta National. He’s in great form, posting back-to-back scores of 6-under-par in previous outings.
Josh Hill: A seasoned senior, Hill recently earned his 14th top-25 finish, tying for 11th at the Cabo Collegiate with a solid score of 3-under-par.
Chase Kyes: Entering the lineup after two strong individual performances, he finished 9-under-par in a previous event and is showing promising potential.
Luke Smith: Another freshman, Smith has already notched two top-25 finishes in his early collegiate career.
Reed Lotter: A senior transfer, Lotter will compete individually. His highlight this spring was a strong 3-under-par finish in Puerto Rico.
The tournament features a mix of formidable opponents and exciting talent, setting the stage for a competitive and entertaining event. As golf continues to attract passionate fans, the buzz around tournaments like this one becomes a topic of discussion on social media, where fans actively share their support and experiences.
