Exciting Progress: Construction Kicks Off for the Highly Anticipated Dignity Health Cancer Center in Redding

The construction of Dignity Health’s Sierra Pacific Regional Cancer Center has officially begun. This $70 million project aims to bring all oncology services together in one place, located near the intersection of Cypress and Hartnell Avenues along the Sacramento River.

“Like any construction project, we faced some unexpected delays,” said Todd, a project manager. “Planning and design take time, and the recent rain didn’t help us either.” Heavy rainfall has held up progress, leaving large machinery stationary until the ground dries out. However, once the weather clears, workers are ready to dive back into construction.

“You’ll start seeing trailers and heavy equipment at the site soon,” Robert noted. “We’ll begin drilling the foundation piles shortly. Additionally, we’re working with PG&E and the city of Redding to set up a utility loop across the project, which is an exciting step forward.”

Recruitment efforts for oncologists are also progressing. “We’re actively looking for doctors,” Todd shared. “I’ve attended more recruitment events than I can count. We have two oncologists signed, along with a nurse practitioner. Two or three more candidates are considering joining us as well, so we’re on the right track to meet the center’s needs.”

The construction is expected to take about 13 months, with plans to welcome patients by July 2026. For more updates, check out Dignity Health’s website.
