HBO’s “The Last of Us” is gearing up for Season 2, adding six new actors to its cast. They include Joe Pantoliano, Alanna Ubach, Ben Ahlers, Hettienne Park, Robert John Burke, and Noah Lamanna.

Pantoliano will portray Eugene, a character from the game “The Last of Us Part II.” Although Eugene appears only in a photograph in the game, his story will be fleshed out in the series. In the game, Ellie and her friend Dina mention Eugene when they discover a lab where he grew cannabis. The show’s creators, Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, see this as a chance to give Eugene more depth, much like the beloved Bill and Frank episode from Season 1.
Mazin noted that the game has many hidden stories through notes and other details. Druckmann expressed excitement about exploring Eugene’s character further, saying that the original story felt limited.
Robert John Burke and Noah Lamanna will also portray characters from the game. Burke will play Seth, who manages a bar in the Jackson community, where Ellie and Joel, played by Pedro Pascal, reside after the first season. Lamanna takes on the role of Kat, Ellie’s girlfriend before the events of “Part II.”
Ubach will play a new character named Hanrahan, while Ahlers takes on the role of Burton. Park, known for her work in the Sundance film “Sorry, Baby,” will portray Elise Park.
Season 2 will also feature returning stars Caitlyn Dever, Young Mazino, Danny Ramirez, Ariela Barer, and Jeffrey Wright, who reprises his role from the game. Mazin and Druckmann will direct some episodes, working alongside other talented directors like Mark Mylod and Kate Herron.
The production involves several executive producers, including Carolyn Strauss and Evan Wells from Naughty Dog. The series is a collaboration between HBO and Sony Pictures Television, supported by PlayStation Productions and others.
