The University of Evansville baseball team has a big weekend ahead. They’re heading to Oxford, Mississippi, to play Ole Miss, facing their third SEC opponent this season.
Due to bad weather predicted, the teams will play a doubleheader on Friday, March 6. The first game starts at 3 p.m., followed by the second one around 45 minutes later. They’re still working on the schedule for Saturday and Sunday, depending on the weather.

Wyatt Pennington, a freshman, has recently gained attention. He made it onto the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Watch List, joining 49 other players nationwide. Pennington also pitched in his first game recently, allowing just two unearned runs over two innings.
Challenging Schedule:
Evansville faces a tough non-conference lineup. Nine of their opponents from last season ranked in the top 100 of the RPI, with five in the top 50. The Aces will play five consecutive games against teams that made the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
Pitching Performance:
Last weekend, Evansville took their first series win against Milwaukee. After a tough loss in the first game, the pitchers excelled in the next two, allowing only three runs total. So far this season, when the Aces win, they hold opponents to just a single run per game. In their losses, they struggle, allowing an average of 11 runs.
