Exciting Showdown: Augusta University’s Jags Battle to a Split with Emmanuel on the Road!

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – Augusta’s softball team faced Emmanuel in a doubleheader on Wednesday, grabbing a win in the first game but losing the second one.

In the first game, Augusta (13-8) broke the silence in the fourth inning. Ansley Gibson hit a solo home run, putting the Jaguars ahead 1-0. Soon after, Kelsea Moody doubled, and Cadance Winder‘s single sent her home, making it 2-0.

Augusta kept pushing in the fifth inning. Nevaeh Ross reached base due to an error and later scored on a double by Bobbi Poff. Gibson added another run with a single, bringing the score to 4-0. In the sixth, Ayellad Howard secured an insurance run with an RBI single.

Gibson was impressive on the mound, pitching four scoreless innings, allowing just two hits, and striking out four batters. Hannah Turner finished strong, giving up one run on four hits in three innings with two strikeouts.

The second game told a different story. Despite seven hits, Augusta struggled. Emmanuel quickly took the lead with a solo home run in the first inning and added two more runs in the third. Augusta scored in the fourth when Bailee Roberts singled and scored on Winder’s hit, making it 3-1. Unfortunately, Emmanuel answered back, sealing their victory with another run in the fifth.

Madalyn Spinks (2-2) took the loss, pitching six innings and allowing four runs on nine hits, along with three strikeouts.
