Hyderabad: The Indian cricket team has announced its squad for the upcoming two-Test series against the West Indies, set to take place in India. Star bowler Jasprit Bumrah and talented batter Devdutt Padikkal are back in the lineup, which was revealed on Thursday.
Led by Shubman Gill, the squad includes regular players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, and Sai Sudharshan. Notably, Karun Nair and Abhimanyu Easwaran have been dropped. Another highlight is the selection of Narayan Jagadeesan as the second wicket-keeper.
Bumrah, who only played three out of five Tests in England due to careful management of his workload, is eager to participate in this series. Ravindra Jadeja takes the vice-captain role in the absence of Rishabh Pant, who is still recovering from a foot injury.
The first Test will kick off at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 2, followed by the second Test at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on October 10. The selectors opted for a strong spin attack, including Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav.
Bumrah will lead the fast bowlers alongside Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna. Dhruv Jurel has been named as the primary wicket-keeper, while all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has also secured a spot in the squad.
