Kansas Jayhawks Face Princeton in Upcoming Matchup
Lawrence, Kan. – The Kansas Jayhawks (ranked 25th) will take on the Princeton Tigers this Saturday at 1 p.m. Central in Allen Fieldhouse. You can catch the game on ESPN+.
The Jayhawks are coming off a strong 77-46 victory against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. This brings their record to 2-1, a mark they’ve achieved in 22 of head coach Bill Self’s 23 seasons at Kansas. Princeton also stands at 2-1, following an impressive home win, 100-59, against John Jay.
In their history, Kansas has beaten Princeton twice, with their last matchup dating back to December 2001, when the Jayhawks won 78-62.
Kansas has found success at home, winning 22 straight nonconference games at Allen Fieldhouse since November 2022. Their overall record against nonconference teams there under Self is a remarkable 161-6.
This season, the Jayhawks are scoring an average of 81.7 points per game and have a scoring margin of plus-20.3. They grab about 38.3 rebounds, leading to a margin of plus-8.0. The team also excels in defense, averaging 7.7 blocks per game, ranking them eighth nationally.
On the individual front, sophomore center Flory Bidunga leads the team with 14.3 points and 7 rebounds per game. He had a standout performance with a career-high 23 points in the season opener against Green Bay. Senior guard Tre White and redshirt freshman Bryson Tiller each contribute 10 points per game, with Tiller impressing fans by making four three-pointers in a single game against North Carolina.
Freshman guard Kohl Rosario is also playing well, averaging 9.7 points and recently scoring a season-high 16. Senior guard Melvin Council Jr. is recognized for his playmaking skills, leading the team in assists.
Looking Ahead
After facing Princeton, Kansas will prepare to meet No. 4 Duke on November 18 in the State Farm Champions Classic at Madison Square Garden. Historically, Duke leads the matchup with a record of 8-7 against Kansas, but the Jayhawks have recently been on a winning streak against them.
In the Champions Classic, Kansas has a 9-5 record and has won eight of their last nine appearances. Duke shares a similar Champions Classic record, reflecting the competitiveness of both programs.
